About this deal

Replicating any shade of pre 1965 yellow is very difficult since yellow paint prior to then is basically pure lead, commonly known as chrome yellow. This shade is much different than the shades currently available from any source and will add the finishing touches to those Bridge Plates, crate stencils, 2nd Armor markings, Sicily Campaign markings and land mines such as the ones I am finishing for my M-20 armored car. It is not essential but it's allot easier. Our paint can be painted or rolled on. Remember we can do it for you on request - so call us. If you are nervous, and not confident you'll do a good overall job, it is better for someone else to do it. Standard Euro Car Parts Red Oxide undercoat, ensure everything on the outside is primed for a great overall finish. Always take your time; it's all in the preparation. BTW I wonder which AFVs will be your "first five" after these 45 years. My list consists of: Renault FT, Renault UE, Mark IV, PzKpfwIV and PzKpfw V. The image above shows a .30 ammo can that I stripped, did not prime, and then painted with this new paint.

Olive Drab Matt LRC213 Coach Enamel paint has been used by the Army and Royal Air Force for many years on vehicles and ground equipment from the late 1960’s through to the late 1970’s. It is the earlier full matt green Paint that would have been used on the Series and early Defenders and of course other military hardware camouflage schemes during this time. Type of Paint

Spray cans are great for small jobs and are handy to keep in your tool box. Litre tins do larger jobs, but always keep them sealed and upright. All our products are formulated for ease of use when restoring your vhicle and they will give you an excellent weather-proof finish that will last for years.

The images that follow show a freshly painted M18 Hellcat using TM9 Lustreless Olive Drab Shade #8 and a newly installed NOS taillight. Using the correct shade of Olive Drab can save you time and money when installing NOS parts. By adding our UV protection to your paint, you can add years to the life of your paint. Our UV protector cuts out the harmful elements of the suns rays, thus extending your paint's life from bleaching. Safety Data Sheets I opened about forty .30 and .50 ammo cans and spread them out. I then separated them by manufacturer. As a side note, most of the .50 ammo cans I used for this study were the side opening ones made between 1940 and about December of 1942. There are three different types of side opening .50 ammo cans used after the side opening M17 .50 ammo can was replaced.Compared to Q panels that were recently painted with a currently available Blue Drab paint it was obvious that there was some distance between colors, not just hues. Without any doubt, this shade was the hardest to replicate to date. We rejected six samples from the manufacturer. The finish was too glossy, too blue, too gray, etc. This shade is actually much greener and grayer than what is currently available. Using a half-inch drive drill, three different sized paint mixers and a pry bar, and eight hours in the drill press, the paint was completely mixed. As the manual states, it can be reduced at a 50:50 mixture with a number of solvents. I then transferred most of this paint into new one gallon and quart containers. We know we are not the cheapest on the market, however the superb quality of our products is second to none. For your reference, I have four different MG oil cans with blue lettering. The color of blue on these cans does not match the original WWII Lustreless Blue Drab paint.

When applying we must follow an application pattern, first horizontally and then vertically, applying the paint uniformly. We apply several coats, letting dry between them about 24 hours and sanding between them, to remove any remaining impurities. I accept that there were variations in shade (or do I mean hue?) and am not into all this colour modulation stuff. All I am looking for is a paint that, when applied to 1/72 AFVs and especially next to vehicles predominantly in British SCC.15, will not scream "wrong" to any tolerably knowledgeable passer-by. I brush-paint so something that does not require an excessive number of coats to achieve coverage and then matt down would be good. Acrylic good (Revell? Vallejo?) but enamel certainly not ruled out if it's decent paint that actually covers, dries and looks right. NB Tamiya XF62 is (or at least was) a good match apparently but Tamiya acrylics and brush painters are sworn enemies. No problem with paint mixes if nothing suits out of the pot. After years of searching an original paint chip for OD2430 has surfaced. Amongst the vast collection of a well known vehicle and paint expert in Pennsylvania, the original 1950 paint chip has finally seen the light of day. It is a very brown shade of OD that was replaced with the greener shade of OD in 1956 by 24087. This is the standard color all vehicles left the factory with from late 1950 through 1956. This color is available in enamel, both gallons and spray paint. So if you want your Korean War Dodge M37 or M38A1 painted with an accurate color, you finally have a source that can meet your needs. This is highest quality 400ml Aerosol Spray Paint in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey available to be delivered in 24 to 48 hours for express delivery and between 3 to 5 days on standard delivery. We are a family owned and managed business that has been manufacturing military vehicle paints and other paint types since 1894. We only use Axholme Signsin the UK which offer bespoke stencils on a next day service, and they have never let us down. They also have great tips on the best application. It is recommended to do it in a place whose temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees. If the painting or varnishing process is done in very hot or cold conditions, the final result may not be good. Traditional Synthetic Coach Enamel– Maintaining the traditional element of a long wet edge time minimises brush marks whilst maximising its self-levelling ability for a perfectly flat, gloss finish. Our premium formula gives you superb coverage; suitable for the traditional application methods of brushing and rollering. Synthetic Coach Enamel also supports spray application for those who want product originality.

I have almost 200 WWII metal ammo cans. The overwhelming majority of these cans have been repainted at least once during their service. This is evidenced by the contrast between the darker post war lustreless olive drab found on the outside, and the lighter semi-gloss olive drab shade found on the majority of the insides. Look at the color photograph below. It was taken during the war. The actual shade of the Olive Drab used on the WC-54’s is not as important as the notable difference in the shade and hue of the paint. Could the difference also be from having a newer vehicle (or an older one recently painted) that was put into service next to an older vehicle? Perhaps, but again the difference is significant! Which one do you like? This shade was also developed independent of having an original paint sample. However, once Jim Gilmore provided me with this sample I was able to make some slight adjustments to the production of Shade #8. Cellulose Spray paints: For most applications a Cellulose formulation is recommended. It offers fast drying and a flawless, durable finish. Paintman Paint take pride in only producing the highest quality, hand-mixed paints. Combining premium tints and resin in our formulas develops a paint with outstanding coverage, build and durability; suitable for the finest of projects. If the surface is well covered and it is not your first painting project, you will be able to do it with a spray, although you will not apply many coats. However if you are not an expert we recommend using 2 sprays for an optimal finish. What temperature should the guitar be at during and after the process?
